Pro Bono or Free Psychotherapy

There is currently one pro bono slot open at AMI Denver. Please read the criteria below before contacting Dr. Wilson. Proof of income (along with other possibly relevant documents) is required.

Pro bono psychotherapy or free psychotherapy is reserved for those individuals who need psychotherapy but can not pay for it. These individuals can not have incomes that would otherwise qualify them for sliding scale fees. Pro bono therapy clients must be able to prove that they meet three of the following conditions:

1. Within the last six months, placed on probation or paroled from prison.
2. Within the last 6 months, discharged from in patient hospitalization or substance abuse rehabilitation.
3. A current member or veteran of the US military with combat experience.
4. Under the age of eighteen or over the age of 65.
5. Unemployed for at least six months or have never been employed.
6. Been financially debilitated by a medical condition or a psychiatric illness.
7. Currently on some form of public assistance or social security / disability.
8. Currently a member of a 12-step group.
9. A former or current foster child or ward of the state.
10. An adult survivor, or current child of abuse.
11. A single mother or father.

All potential free therapy clients must be prepared to validate or otherwise prove the criteria they endorse. Moreover, all potential pro bono therapy clients must commit to the following rules during the length of their therapy:

1. Attend weekly sessions with no more then one non-emergency absence in a three month period.
2. No use of illicit drugs or alcohol during the course of therapy.
3. Compliance with all assignments outside of weekly therapy sessions (meditation, exercises, reading, etc).
3. Should your financial situation change, you will inform Dr. Wilson so he can move you to a sliding scale or full fee payment.
